Holidays, Weather, and Illness
The Zion Music Academy will be closed for various holidays throughout the year. The instructors will provide a calendar of planned holiday closures at the beginning of each semester. Weather related to closures will be communicated as needed. The instructor will work with the individual to reschedule a weather-related missed lesson.
Withdrawals
Students who choose to withdraw from the Zion Music Academy are encouraged to provide as much advance notice as possible. No refunds or credits can be given if a student withdraws in the middle of a semester.
Needed Materials
Students must obtain their own practice instrument and the required lesson books as outlined by the instructor. As a ministry of Zion Lutheran Church, the Zion Music Academy will provide each student the needed “David’s Harp” hymn resource book.
Performances
Students may have opportunities to perform in scheduled recitals and community performances as arranged by the Director. Though not considered a performance, students may also have opportunities to play hymns during Zion Lutheran Church’s regular worship services. The student’s instructor will coordinate this opportunity with the Director.
Miscellaneous
The Music Academy Guild (MAG) will ensure that lesson classrooms and facilities are cleaned weekly during the semester. The MAG and interested members will help prepare the classrooms for Music Academy use.
Three pianos will be used in the Sunday School Classrooms, lower level so piano and/or voice lessons can occur simultaneously. Background checks for all instructors will be administered by Zion Lutheran Church with help from the SID LCMS using “Protect My Ministry” organization.
